Unity of Believers

The unity Saint Paul speaks of in his writings to the Church in Corinthians transcends human circumstances of geography or social station. While there is great diversity in gifts among the people who make up the Church, the ONE SPIRIT BINDS all BELIEVERS together. Even with differences in our roles, we are UNITED through the Holy Spirit, and all are challenge to live lives of PRAYER and SERVICE.

Speaking about PEACE brings TRUTH and LOVE into words

we speak to one another. Nearly everyone can recall the sting

 of unkind words and perhaps even the guilty awareness of 

the injury caused by unkind words that were spoken. Our 

LOVE of GOD is manifest in our speech and in our actions

toward one another. Respecting people's privacy and 

possessions is one way to act as people of peace. 

"Whoever would love life and see good days 

must keep the tongue from evil 

and the lips from speaking deceit"

God's Promise to His Children

Everyone has it's own journey. Every journey in our lives is a 

challenge. Without God we cannot do it. but With God it will 

be a great adventure. Just as God with Moses, He is always 

with us as we face our new challenges in life. We may not 

conquer the whole world but everyday we face temptations, 

difficult people and tough situations. God promise us that He 

will never abandon us nor fail us. All you have to do is ask 

God to direct us to conquer many of life's challenges.

You are the Light

Each of us is called to be a light to the nations. The

LIGHT is GENERATED when we are TRUE to our 

VOCATIONS in LIFE. Each of us should acknowledged

 and developed our Talents or Gifts from God. Because

 the LIGHT that we bring to the world or each person

that we meet in life brings salvation. and for that we

became co-creators of God's work in salvation.

Conversation with God

After the Apostles delegated the day-to-day responsibilities of ministry to Stephen and others, they devoted themselves to the most important part of their remaining responsibilities - talking with God and seeking His direction. This passage helps us understand how they did it. The apostles's conversations with God were two way. First one is "They SPOKE to GOD through PRAYER", and the second one is "They LISTENED to GOD through the WORD." Initially, they were fortunate enough to have heard from the Word directly, but as the eye witnesses to Christ died, believers were able to turn to the written Word to hear God speak. That same source is available to us today in the written and inspired BIBLE.

"WHEN WE MEDITATE ON THE WORD, 

THE FATHER SPEAKS TO US, AND WHEN WE PRAY, 

WE SPEAK TO THE FATHER".

Let's teach our kids this skill of "conversing" with God.

Right from the Heart - Purpose for Living

Purpose for Living

What is your purpose for living? Have you ever taken time to pursue in the rat race of life and figure out why you're in it?

I recommend developing a life purpose statement. A man once told me his purpose statement was to "Get all you can; can all you get; and sit on the can!" I hope that when you develop your purpose statement, It'll be more than that.  Don't be shortsighted, focusing on this life alone. Keep eternity in mind. God created all of us for a purpose. What's yours?

Here's a hint. Knowing God has put you on this earth for a purpose becomes clear when you get to know the person of Jesus Christ. With Him, it's amazing how all things become clear. Otherwise, you end up like the masses, too busy to take time to know why you're here and too lost to know where you're going.

Are you racing through life going nowhere fast? Stop for a second. Look to God in Christ and discover the purpose of your life.

"Whoever has the Son has life;

whoever does not have God's Son does not have life."

What is your definition of true friendship?

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Happy is the house the shelters a friend," and "A friend is a person with whom I may be sincere and before him I may think aloud. The only reward of virtue is virtue; the only way to have a friend is to be one."

Walter Winchell defines a friend as "one who walks in when others walk out." Someone else has said a friend is "a man who laughs at your funny stories, even when they ain't so good, and sympathizes with your misfortunes, even when they ain't so bad."

As for me, a friend is the "one who always be there for you no matter what, who will stand before you and fight for you till the end."

Do you have a friend? Do you know true friendship?

Many, I'm sad to say, have to answer no. The good news is this: you can have a best friend forever. That friend is Jesus Christ. I encourage you to get to know Him. You'll never be disappointed. He'll always be there with you.

Right from the Heart - Use it or Lose it

Use it or Lose it

I have friends who are learning to speak Spanish. They are struggling with different sounds, different words. Acquiring a new skill takes practice and patience. You have heard the cliche, "Use it of lose it." My friends realize that they have to use the few Spanish words they know or they will quickly forget them. We must use what we know, or we don't retain knowledge.

The principle applies in the spiritual dimensions as well. Faith in God is like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it becomes. The manual for getting this muscle in shape is the Bible, and the personal trainer is Jesus Christ. If you submit yourself to His leadership and His guidance, you will discover how to use the faith muscle every day. It's either use it or lose it.

"You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus."

The one who comes from above is above all.

The one who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of earthly things.

Right From the Heart - A Just Result

As a teenager, I went to work in a tennis shop, learning to string racquets. The owner told me I'd have to practice on old racquets for a couple of weeks before he'd let me get paid to string customers' racquets. After a few weeks, he gave me a brand new Jack Kramer racquet to string for one of his best customers. In the dark ages of the twentieth century, there were no finer racquets.

I worked carefully and slowly, and when I was done, I said to the shop owner, "I hope he likes it 'cause that's the best I can do." He looked it over and smiled and said, "I hope so, too, 'cause it's yours."

That man gave me a gift that has lasted long after the racquet gave out. We need to do our best to treat folks like we want to be treated because we never know when our actions may come back to bless us or haunt us. God's word is clear, "Whatever a man sows, this he will also reap."

Ecclesiastes 9:10

"Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the grave, 

there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom."

Mary - A Great Example of Faith

The Bible could never be accused of whitewashing the heroes of the faith. Abraham, Jacob, Moses, David, and Peter all had some pretty serious flaws and failures. When we come across a biblical personality who had no recorded obvious flaws and sins, we take note. Mary, the mother of Jesus, is one of the those who was always found faithful. And what faith she had! She was a Jewish teenage virgin visited by an angel, and told she would give birth to God's son.

I love Mary's realness. She initially responded like any teenage virgin would today. Disbelief, shock, bewilderment - probably wondering what her fiance and her family would think. She asked, "How can this be since I am a virgin?" But after the initial shock, she chose to believe God's Word. She's the first to believe in Jesus as her Savior and Lord - while she carried Him in her womb.

"All who heard the shepherds' story were astonished

But Mary kept all these things in her heart

and thought about them often" Luke 2:18-19

She is the true first lady of the faith. Do you believe as Mary did? What God's word says about Jesus is true.

Right from the Heart - One Man's Sin: Long Term Consequences

And I know that nothing good lives in me,

that is, in my sinful nature.

One Man's Sin: Long-Term Consequences

Very often, we rationalize sin by thinking nobody will be hurt.... it's no big deal. But sin has a way of having lasting consequences. Do you know the origin of the Middle East conflict? It goes back to the sin of one man, Abraham, the father of three faiths: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

God promised to bless Abraham and his wife, Sarah, with a son He would use to build a great nation. Because they were very old, Sarah suggested to Abraham that he sleep with her younger maidservant, and have their child through her. This was a legally acceptable solution, but it wasn't in God's will. The servant gave birth to Abraham's first son, Ishmael, Abraham's wife became resentful, and the maidservant and Ishmael fled to the desert.

But God eventually gave Abraham and Sarah the son He promised-Isaac. From Isaac, came the Jews and Israel; from Ishmael came the Arabs. The descendants of these two sons of Abraham have been in conflict ever since. One man's sin-long term consequences. So let's trust God and do right.
